Founded in 2006 by enthusiastic early music performers and using the expertise of faculty from the Penn State School of Music, JBMF brings together intermediate and advanced students, guest artists and master teachers in an exploration of music that is as timely now as it was for the first settlers in Pennsylvania. It offers the youth of today a lively, tuneful experience of something old and something new.

The mission of the Junior Baroque Music Festival is to provide quality performing and educational experiences in historical performance of Baroque music for students under the age of 19 from the mid-Atlantic area.

JBMF is the first teaching music festival dedicated to young emerging musicians in the United States. Our festival includes workshops in aspects of the Baroque (stage gestures, continuo, bows and gut strings, recorders, lute, harpsichord, fine arts, dance) and master classes in Baroque style for flute, voice, piano, strings, reeds, brass and chamber music. International faculty provide high quality instruction and an introductory Masters of the Baroque concert.
