The Junior Baroque Music Festival is enormously grateful to the Centre County Community for individual donations, corporate and professional contributions and steady sponsorship through the Centre County Community Foundation since 2006. We rely on these generous friends to support 50% of our festival budget in order to keep the participation fees within the reach of all interested young musicians. Nowhere else in the United States can talented youth of diverse socioeconomic levels encounter and work with a faculty of such expertise in the field of baroque. State College is on the national map of artistic renewal – thanks to you.
Last year 2008, our funding from national and Mid-Atlantic arts foundations declined in the economic downturn, and we were forced to cancel the festival, the artists and all concerts. We are told by foundations that small festivals like ours must be supported locally, by raising fees and relying on even more volunteer aid. We have done both, but in the spirit of democracy and the ethos of the Baroque – “Everyone plays; Everybody learns music” (Allgemeiner Zeitung Vienna 1780) - we must provide ample scholarship money and the best in master teachers. We need your help.
Please consider the impact of this festival on you personally -- the impossibly rare and beautiful music you have witnessed from our guest artists and our students, the pride of State College in hosting this unique festival, and particularly the surge to these young musicians daring to explore a music profession or to be skilled musical amateurs.
It is your gift that supports their dreams.
- Support the cost of one student participant -- $75
- Support the cost of one master teacher -- $500
- Support operational costs -- $25 - $100
